Died at his father's house in Arlington, Virginia on February 25, 2012, after a valiant battle with a rare form of cancer. Ted grew up in Arlington and attended Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown public schools; he was very active athletically and captain of the Yorktown High School baseball team. He graduated from University of Richmond, where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He lived in Arlington for a number of years before moving to Phoenix in the early 1980's.
Ted graduated from culinary school in Scottsdale, Arizona and held a number of jobs in the catering industry before finding his true calling as a teacher. He attained a master's degree in education and worked at South Mountain High School in Phoenix for five years, among other educational positions in the Phoenix area. He spent the last 9 years as a much beloved teacher at the Leysin American School in Switzerland (LAS) where he taught history as well as baccalaureate degree courses.
