we started reading "when rabbit howls" in the past few days, and it's been truly transformative to read multiple literature that's (a) written by the people involved (b) a legitimate, published novel (c) captures so effectively the impact that the world around a plural has on them- and vice versa. from one young system to what should be considered a system elder; thank you, troops. the weight of your work will be remembered.

The path so many survivors were on was so bleak until When Rabbit Howls came out or we saw you on Oprah or heard about you in the media. Countless lives were changed and healed because your courage allowed us the understanding to stop hating and blaming ourselves and start reaching out and getting the help we needed. Your generosity in sharing your incredibly brutal history with us has changed too many lives to count. In our hearts forever - we love you Truddi and the Troops!

Trudi, I vividly remember the day I heard your story on Oprah.
my sight went blurry, I ran into my closet and I curled up in a fetal position under a pile of clothes.
It wasn't until then I realized I was hiding years of trauma. Shortly after I found the courage to get help. healing was a painfully bumpy road...30yrs later I'm still growing up, but I'm not sure where I'd be in life if not for your strength and vulnerability. I am saddened that you are gone.
for decades I wished to express my gratitude and tell you how much you are loved.
you're my hero, Truddi.
you and your troops are free. free to fly, love, discover, grow, laugh, and create together.

I was touched and gladdened by the book 'When Rabbit Howls' which ironically I didn't know what the book really was. I just saw Rabbit in the title and it caught my eye. It has been an inspiration with dealing with hatred from people that think we are sick and need to be institutionalized. You shall be missed by those you never met and those that shall never get to know you but through the words of your book... may your words inspire many to seek help and maybe be comfortable with themselves as they are.
May you rest in peace with the universe.

Truddi Chase, you inspire from the bed of earth you lay rested from what I consider tirelessness of a tireing condition, you are such an icon to my life and direction, you live on helping those like myself accept " living" with others in ones' self. We send our condolences even tho you have past on before my time. I thank you for your efforts to take selves to the Oprah show; I am Physically black and all other colors, even tho my children and others think i'm white inside trying to be black. You have blessed my life in moving forward breaking out of the medical sites to help others coming up behind me or us that needs a helping hand on how to accept you and yourselves as self. I can't say thank you enough.

I read her story when I was a teenager and I must have read her book about two dozen times by now. Now, in my 40s I decided to go back to college and one of my classmates is a multiple. Thanks to Trudi's book, I knew about her fight, her problems and her victories and it helped me to just take her the way she is. Not odd, or moody or weird - just a young woman who is smart as a whip, freightend like a little girl and strong as hell. She is in therapy and is making progress. I don't know what she will decide on in the end, integration or not - but Thank you Trudi for making us non multiples understand - to some degree anyway!

A friend of mine who was a Multiple, had D.I.D., after he integrated gave me the book when Rabbit Howls. I wasn't able to read it because I just learned I have D.I.D. and have been terrified of this disease. Yes, I have D.I.D. because of parental abuse and paternal incest and Priest abuse and when I could I opened Truddis book, just to peek at what I have. It scared me intensely, still does. I am glad though that she had a support team. I do not. I wish I did. I am in therapy and having a horrible time of it. I am glad Truddi had support. I wish there was support for all who have D.I.D./ Multiplicity. I actually found this OBIT looking for an on-line chat for those who have D.I.D. My condolenses to Truddies family and my concern and support for those who will be and are affected by her passing. I extend my support and friendship for all who have D.I.D. Gods Blessings on all of you. MK-MKM

Kenzie - On behalf of incest victims like myself who got so much from reading that book and not feeling so alone - that book would never have been possible had it not been for the compassion, understanding and bravery of Dr. Phillips and Stanley.
The fact that you are now inspired to continue on their groundbreaking path makes me very very happy, because I know another Truddi will have a chance to find a way out of the darkness because of a big-hearted therapist like you.
Blessings and thanks from myself (and I'm sure Truddi and the Troops)

I am sad to hear of this woman's passing. I read the book many times after it came out, and I still think of it to this day. People don't realize how much their actions affects the victims, and for how long. The fact that Truddi had so many personalities, is the exact reason she survived. I hope she was able to have some happiness in her life. God bless her beautiful soul, and the ones residing inside her mind.

To the Troops and the cores,
I recently read your book for a class in Psychological Trauma and it has greatly influenced me. I am now seriously considering a path much like Dr. Phillips' or Stanley's because of how deeply your accounts touched and interest me. I want to be able to help other individuals with dissociative identity disorder and to prevent further abuse from happening in the future.
Thank you for changing my life and for changing how I look at the mind. I have unbelievable admiration for you and for your Troops.

Truddi Chase and her brave battle to own the brutal consequences of her abuse was the reason I began to understand and heal from my own incest scars. Her willingness to keep going even when the demons seemed hell bent on destroying her soul, and the brilliant coping mechanisms her brain utilized to survive made me understand that I was brave, not cowardly, strong, not weak, and good, not evil. Your incredible story lives on with me to this day, and your life will live on through all of us who became whole in our brokenness by your courage and the gift you spent the rest of your life giving to others - understanding and forgiveness of ourselves.
Blessings and love to Truddi and the Troops - may you finally reside in the light you learned to see in the darkness. And blessings Kari and Paul for seeing your mother and her warriors as a gift, not as a burden, and letting us share our love for all of her.
