"Buster" "Matt"  

On Wednesday September 4, 2013 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, VA. Born in Washington, DC on January 16, 1926 to William T. Mattingly and Maude Turner Mattingly. He graduated from Charlotte Hall Military Academy and Strayer Business College with a degree in accounting. Mr. Mattingly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during WWII aboard LCT 908. He was a community leader in MD as treasurer for the Bryans Road Fire Department and Accokeek, Bryans Road and Anne Arundel Lion's Clubs. A devoted Christian, during his time at St. James Episcopal Church in Indian Head, MD, Mr. Mattingly served as an altar boy and later on the vestry, also serving as an usher of Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, FL. With a career in banking, Mr. Mattingly was a corporate bank officer at local banks including Suburban Trust Company. Also a sole proprietor of Matador Services, Inc., Mr. Mattingly had a tax and accounting business. His hobbies included baseball, golf, boating, and camping.
Mr. Mattingly is survived by his wife of 40 years Doris E. Mattingly, and family: Beverly Mattingly; Suzanne Mattingly; Jeff Mattingly and wife Cindi; and stepchildren Carlynn Fiot, Wayne (Ben) Hatcher and wife Becky; Debra Smyers; and 12 grandchildren. Also survived by the mother of his three children: Charlene M. Mattingly of Indian Head, MD. Services will be held at Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, September 7 located at 4270 Hawthorne Road, Indian Head, MD, receiving guests beginning at 9 a.m., followed by service at 10 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
