Of Arlington, VA, passed away on Saturday June 29, 2013. Walter was born on December 15, 1915 in Bronx NY, to Leizer Grimberg and Rebecca Alters. A Graduate of Cornell University in 1936, Walter proudly served in the United States Army Air Forces in World War II, from 1942 - 1945. On June 27, 1952, Walter married his beloved Maria Josepha Hess and moved to establish his family life in the Washington DC area. In 1959, he established WB Grimes & Company, a Brokerage Firm specializing in the Newspaper, Magazine, and Trade Publication Industry, which later became one of the largest media brokerage companies in the country. Following Maria's death in 1987, Walter remarried to Janice Brown in 1988, and continued to live life to it's fullest. An avid reader and writer, Walter enjoyed travel, music, theatre, but most of all valued family. Walter will be greatly missed. He is survived by three children, Larry (Marci) Grimes of Gaithersburg, Cathy (Steve) Sanders of Manassas, and Judy (Kirk) Stark of Wisconsin, as well as seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a loving extended family of four children, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 4000 Lorcom Ln., Arlington, VA on Friday, July 5 at 11 a.m. Interment will occur at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery's Columbarium with his first wife, Maria. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Walter's name may be made to the Shaken Baby Prevention Foundation, 11988 Falling Creek Drive, Manassas, VA 20112 ( Please view and sign the family guest book at:
