WILLIAM HUGO BORGHESANI, JR.  
Of Burke, Virginia, son of William Hugo Borghesani, Sr. and Mary Nazerene Ciccolo, passed away at his home on October 25, 2017, at the age of 86. He is survived by his spouse of 56 years, Geraldine Amanda Lash, his sons Mark and Dean, and daughter Leigh, as well as five grandchildren Camilla, Turner, Liam, Sophia and Polina. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathi Dow Borghesani, and son-in-law, Neal Ashby.Mr. Borghesani was born and raised in Plymouth, Massachusetts with five younger siblings, Marie, Robert, Roger, Paul and Susan. He attended Boston College where he received his undergraduate and law degrees. In between college and law school, he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force as a pilot. He went on to practice law for 42 years, initially with the FCC and then in 1962 he co-founded the law firm of Keller & Heckman, which would eventually grow into a leading administrative law firm with offices in Washington, DC, San Francisco, Europe and Asia. He had numerous accomplishments in the legal field, including in 1968 when he led a small group of lawyers in the landmark Caterfone case, which was instrumental in the breakup of the telephone monopoly held by AT&T.He hosted countless extended family gatherings at his home. He loved sailing, hiking around Burke Lake, reading in his gazebo, discussing current events and spending time with his grandchildren. A lifelong Catholic, Mr. Borghesani was a parishioner at Church of the Nativity in Burke, Virginia. Memorial Services will be held for him on November 18, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Church of the Nativity, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, Virginia 22015.
