On Monday, October 29, 2012 of Fairfax, VA. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Sue Stevens and son William Steven. He was born in 1931 and was the son of the late George A. and Charlie Mae Milford League of Greenville, SC. Bill was a graduate of Furman University (Bachelor of Science); Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity); and Pepperdine University (Master of Arts). He served 22 years as a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy of which ten years were assignments with the US Marine Corps. Upon retiring from the Navy, he practiced real estate in North Carolina and taught real estate for 18 years in Northern Virginia. Bill was an avid golfer and had a passion for genealogy. His brother, Manning League preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held at the Everly Funeral Home, 10565 Mail Street, Fairfax, VA 22030 on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on a date to be determined.
