BATISTAS HELEN G. BATISTAS Age 72, a long time resident of Northern Virginia and Neapoli, Greece passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Tripoli, Greece after a massive stroke. After several days in the local hospital, she went quietly to be with the Lord. Mrs. Batistas was born on January 29, 1938 in Neapoli, Greece to George and Marie Aronis. She married James B. Batistas September 29, 1957 in Lynn, MA. James and Helen raised six wonderful children in the Washington area and enjoyed retirement traveling back and forth from their native Greece where they also had a home. Helen will surely be missed; not just by loved ones, but by all who had ever met her. She had such a special charm, a zest for life, and dedication and was a beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Helen is survived by her husband James; children, Chrisoula, Maria, Vatistas, Georgia, Pam and Theo; sisters, Kanela and Demetra; brother, Nick; 17 grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, September 10, 2010 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St. Manassas, VA. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010 at St. Katherine''s Greek Orthodox Church, 3149 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, VA 22041. Helen will be laid to rest at Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Hwy. Manassas, VA. Donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142. Condolences may be sent to www.piercefh.com
