EDMOND JOSEPH POWER
Ed Power passed away peacefully on April 9, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years young. Ed was born in Lynn, MA on September 25, 1922 and raised in Everett. At the outbreak of WWII
, he attended Midshipmen's School at Boston College, Tufts and Cornell. Lt. (jg) Power served aboard attack transport USS Sevier and deployed to Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Ed married the former Catherine V. Kennedy on August 21, 1948 and his growing family moved to Maryland in 1958, where he started a successful 30-year career with the US International Trade Commission. Ed enjoyed being a member and volunteering at the Elks, VFW
and the Fleet Reserve. He cherished friendships and enjoyed sports and the outdoors. Ed is survived by his wife, Kay; daughters: Kathy and her husband Tony, Pat, Kelly and her husband Chris; sons: Barry, Dan and his wife Michelle, and Brian and his wife Doretta; and his brother John. Also by his beloved grandchildren Leah, Jordan, Julia, Jake and Wade, and his step-grandchildren Cristina, Matt, Christopher and Jessica. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerome. Burial service will be held at the Sacred Heart Chapel at 16501 Annapolis Rd, Bowie on April 13 at 11 am. Friends are welcome to celebrate Ed's life at his family home, 2715 Birdseye Ln Bowie on April 13, starting at 1 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
