Darlene Meyer Holdsworth, 63, a vital woman widely admired for her wit and wisdom, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on January 8, 2014 from a malignant brain tumor. Her optimism and laughter were with her until the end.

A 1968 graduate of Phillipsburg Catholic High School, N.J., Darlene earned her B.A. from George Washington University in 1980. Darlene's proudest occupation was being a full-time mother. At the time of her passing, she was a successful self-employed business consultant under contract to Unisys Federal Systems in Reston, Va. Previously, Darlene was a teacher in public and private schools and worked in rare books at Amherst College, Mass.
