Rick Clausen died peacefully in his home February 21, 2014 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. Born November 19, 1947 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey he was a graduate of Boston University in 1969 and received his Masters of Architecture in 1973 from SUNY Buffalo. He practiced architecture for 37 years in Alexandria, Virginia, and was a long time chairman of the Alexandria Building Code Board of Review. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna Burnett Clausen, his children Christopher T. Clausen, Anne Clausen Scott, his brother James Clausen, and grandchildren Thomas Clausen, Eliza and Wyatt Scott. Rick was an avid boater and long time friend of Bill W. A Celebration of Rick's life will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Army Navy Country Club, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rick's name to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Additional information may be found at
