ANA GABRIELA SOTO (nee Marques)  

Ana was born on April 4, 1967 in Montevideo, Uruguay. She passed away on April 9, 2014 after a four year battle with colon cancer. She is survived by her husband Jess Soto, Jr., COL (ret) US Army; a teenage daughter Jessica Marie Soto; her mother Ana Maria Cabrera and brother Nestor Gustavo Marques. She was pre-deceased by her father Jorge Gregorio Marques and brother Luis Carlos Marques. Ana grew up and attended elementary and high school in Uruguay. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1998 she served a four year enlistment in the Army of Uruguay. She became a naturalized citizen and quickly immersed herself in the customs and culture of the country. Her last employment was as a substitute K-12 teacher for the Arlington County Public Schools, VA. She was a natural born teacher, mentor to her students and was unselfishly devoted to her family and friends. She earned an AST in Forensic Science Technology from Prince Georges Community College, a BS in Investigative Forensics and MS in Technology Management from the University of Maryland. Visitation was on April 15, 2014 at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home in Alexandria, VA. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
