Irene Veronica Vargo Otto followed her country roads home to heaven on April 24, 2014. An Arlington, Virginia resident for 50 years, she is survived by her four loving children and two sons-in-law, Mary Otto and Bill Karabin, Dr. Joseph Otto, Paula Otto and Dan Timberlake and Jeanine Otto. She is also survived by a brother, Albert Vargo and his wife Gerry. She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent A. Otto and sister Margaret Vargo Jozik.
Born in Ida May, West Virginia, Irene was proud of her West Virginia roots and Hungarian heritage. She had several careers, including election official, Washington tour guide and real estate agent. An avid gardener, she derived great joy from her membership in the Rock Spring Garden Club, serving as its president in 1996.
Visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA on Wednesday, April 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., short prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral at St. Ann Catholic Church, 5300 North 10th Street, Arlington, VA on Thursday, May 1 at 11 a.m.
