Left us to meet his Maker on May 20, 2014. Maynard worked for the Federal Government as a civilian and in military service. He retired from the General Services Administration, as Chief, Management Analyst Staff in 1979. He has lived in Alexandria, VA area since 1962. He attended American University night classes.
Maynard was born in Muscatine, Iowa, the oldest son of the late Eddie and Mildred Hildebrandt. He moved to Washington D.C. in June of 1945 to begin his career with the Federal Government. He worked at headquarters of the Navy Dept., Internal Revenue Service, Pentagon for Chief of Naval Operations, and G.S.A.
Maynard was a member of the Masonic Organization, a member of Mount Vernon Lodge 219; Alexandria, Scottish Rite Bodies; a Shriner with Kena Shrine Temple. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church for more than 50 years.
Maynard was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E. Park Hildebrandt, step-son, Jerry Park and step-daughter, Mary Ann (Cope) Martin.
Surviving are second wife, Elizabeth I. (Cope) Hildebrandt, two step-children, Donald L. Park (Alixe) of Silver Spring, MD and Gail L. (Cope) Ashby (Roger) of Amissville, VA; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA on May 28 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m.; a Masonic Service by Mount Vernon Lodge will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held May 29 at 9:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 6510 Ft. Hunt Rd., Alexandria, VA 22307, Pastor Lewis officiating.
Interment, Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Viers Mill Rd., Rockville, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church 6510 Ft. Hunt Rd., Alexandria, VA 22307.
