Of The Plains, VA on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at home surrounded by his wife and three children. An Eagle Scout, he graduated from Woodberry Forest School and Virginia Tech before accepting a commission in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Alexandria, VA in the early 80's and joined his father in managing Snelling & Snelling personnel offices. He served as president of the local Kiwanis Club and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Alexandria, serving as a Deacon and teaching Bible studies. He is survived by his wife Joanie Litka Armstrong; daughters, Amanda Armstrong (Dennis) Burton and Andrea Armstrong (Wayne) Bollinger; son, Will (Sarah) Armstrong; stepsons, Nick (Amber) Coats and Mitch (Stephanie) Coats; a sister, Hope Armstrong Erb and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Alexandria, 2932 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22302. Friends may call at church from 12 to 1 p.m. or after 5 p.m. at the home. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Mount Olive Ministries, P.O. Box 875, Mount Olive, MS 39119.
