Sarah Esther Crawford Hennessee passed away on June 9, 2014 at the Care Center of Whitestone Masonic and Eastern Star home in Greensboro, North Carolina.
She was born December 17, 1920 in Jacksonville, Florida. Sarah was the oldest of the six children of the late William B. and Eleanor A. Crawford. Sarah attended Sebring High School where she was awarded the distinguished Bailey Medal. She graduated from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC where she met her late husband Robert H. Hennessee. Robert and Sarah were married April 20, 1947 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage and are survived by their three children, Robert H. Hennessee, Jr., Byrd Crawford Hennessee and Eleanor Lou Hennessee, and two grandchildren, Valerie and Katie Hennessee.
Sarah retired from the Montgomery County Police Department, in Maryland where she was employed as a Crossing Guard and was beloved by the community. She continued employment as a Medical Secretary at the National Institute of Health. She was an active member of Glenmont United Methodist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, and an active volunteer in the community.
Sarah was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Greenlee Chapter, North Carolina.
