CLARK COLONEL ROBERT S. CLARK, USAF Colonel Robert S. Clark passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Montana S. Clark . Colonel Clark, the son of John F. and Violet G. Clark, was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and grew up in Greenock, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Army soon after graduation from McKeesport High School. He transferred to the Air Corps in 1942 and was commissioned that same year. He served in Tactical Fighter Commands in the European Theater during WW II and Korea and was assigned to the Pentagon during the Vietnam War. He was a Director in the Office of the Secretary of Defense prior to retirement. He was employed by NASA, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and as a self-employed consultant prior to full retirement. During the 60's and early 70's he was an adjunct professor at George Washington University graduate school. Col. Clark graduated from the University of Maryland and earned a Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University. He also completed additional graduate work in economics at George Washington University. He was also a graduate of the Squadron Officers School and the Command and Staff College. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal and four awards of the Air Force Commendation Medal as well as the Purple Heart after being shot down in France during World War II. He was a 32 Degree Mason and recently received a 70 year membership award. He is survived by Jean B. Grefe of Reston, Virginia; Samuel R. Clark (Donna) of Summerville, South Carolina; Barbara C. Thomas (Daniel) of Nederland, Colorado and; Carol C. Wang of Rockville, Virginia. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Funeral services for Colonel Clark will be held Saturday, July 12 at Royston Funeral Home, 4125 Rectortown Road, Marshall, Virginia at 11 am. Immediately following the services a reception will be held at The Cochran Masonic Lodge No. 271, 6514 Main Street, The Plains, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cochran Masonic Lodge No. 271 Building Fund, 6514 Main Street, The Plains, Virginia 20198 in Colonel Clark's name.
