On Wednesday, July 9, 2014, Salvatore A. Romano, 74, died peacefully in his sleep at home in Dickerson, MD. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Joan T. Romano; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Angela, Matthew and Chorman, and Christopher and Karen; and his six wonderful grandchildren, Abigail, Eleanor, Mia, Olivia, Dominic, and Dylan. He is also survived by his two sisters, Frances Voelpel and Marie Piccirilli, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Queens, NY, he attended St. John's University (B.A.,1961) and School of Law (J.D., 1964). He loved the practice of law and pursued it for 50 years. His practice included four years of service for the U.S. Army JAG Corps, and 43 years of private practice with several prestigious large and mid-size DC law firms.
He was active in the Associated Catholic Charities, Washington, DC, Board of Directors, past Chairman and Member and an early member of the Legal Network Advisory Council. He was also a Knight of Malta.
The family will receive friends at PUMPHREY'S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave., Rockville, MD on Sunday, July 13, 2014, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road, Rockville, MD, on Monday, July 14, 2014, at 10:30 a.m.
