JEAN L. FITZGERALD
Jean Lamp FitzGerald, 85, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2014, in Brookeville, MD. Born in Martinsburg, WV, she resided for 55 years in Kensington, MD. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ray W. and Mary Stilwell Lamp.
She was the wife of the late James J. FitzGerald and the loving mother of Susan Boisen (Tom Reinhardt), James (Cheryl) FitzGerald, Joseph (Sandy) FitzGerald, and William (Lila) FitzGerald. She was the devoted grandmother of Teresa Mohler, Laura McGann, and James, David, Michael, John, and Jimmie FitzGerald, and loving great-grandmother of 12. Jean was the beloved sister of Calvin Lamp (Joyce) of Martinsburg and sister-in-law of Marie Lamp and Sharron Lamp, Anne Frick (Joseph), Julie FitzGerald, and Sue FitzGerald. She was predeceased by her brothers Paul Lamp and Ray Lamp and her granddaughter Shelby FitzGerald.
Upon graduation from high school, Jean worked for two years as secretary at Martinsburg High School. After her move to Washington, DC in 1948, she was employed at the Immigration Department and in the office of Congressman Gerald R. Ford.
Family and friends will be received at Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850 (Rt. 28, exit 6A just off I-270) on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
