It was quite a coincidence that my late father and Dr.May ended up on the same street (Saul Road, Kensington) after both going to the same high school (CBC, St. Louis,Mo.). In my dad's last years he truly enjoyed doing volunteer work for Dr. May. More importantly Dr.May stood for what he believed in even when it wasn't popular.

Bill was such a blessing for so many people for so long. It is sad to lose him but he lived courageously, witnessing to the truth in so many ways, and he has left a wonderful legacy. We will miss him but we thank God for giving us Bill with all his special gifts and his generous spirit. We needed him.
We felt privileged to be among his friends for so many years.

We had the blessing of meeting this good and holy man through our dearest friends Kathleen, his daughter and James his son-in-law.
He always smiled and seemed to get much joy and peace from just being with the family.
His deep love and care of them shone through in the brief meetings we had with him.
He is now cradled in the love he gave to others, the love that comes from Him, that Love which is the embodiment of God.

Bill was one of the most warm-hearted, generous and steadfast men I have ever met. He gave me the biggest gift of all: putting up no resistance when his youngest daughter wanted to move to the other side of the world to pursue our relationship. As a father, I now have some understanding of how difficult this must have been, and yet Bill and Pat met Kathleen's decision with extreme grace. I could not have hoped for a better in-laws. Since then I have experienced the joy of Bill pouring affection and unconditional love in abundance into our lives and the lives of my children. We have been richly blessed.

I had the privilege of having Dr. May for two classes while I was studying at the Notre Dame Graduate School. Also, as a natural family planning teacher with my wife through the Couple to Couple League, I have a deep respect for his work to uphold the teaching of Humanae Vitae. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
