STUART JANET LEE STUART Janet Lee Stuart of Annapolis, MD died December 30, 2009. She was the wife of the late Admiral William A. Stuart. She was born June 22, 1911 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Beulah Janet Rader Young and James LeGrafton Young. Janet graduated from Beaver High School in Bluefield and then attended Marshall College. She worked for Bailey Lumber Company in Bluefield until she married Ensign William A. Stuart on July 3, 1934. The next 35 years, while her husband was on active duty, saw her as devoted Navy wife, raising three children, enduring through World War II, and moving to a new duty stations 22 times during those 35 years. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and other organizations. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, James Rader Young and John LeGrafton Young. She is survived by three children, Janet Lee Hilton of Scottsdale, AZ, William A. Stuart, II and his wife Lynn of Lynchburg, VA and Mary Melinda McCabe and her husband Bernard of Canberra, Australia, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held graveside at 11 a.m. at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery, Annapolis, Maryland on Thursday, January 14, 2010. Following the funeral, a reception will be held at Ginger Cove on River Crescent Drive. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Janet''s name.
