ANDERSON JOYCE ELAINE ANDERSON (Age 80) Formerly of Wheaton, MD died peacefully on July 9, 2010 at Penick Village in Southern Pines, NC after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the wife of 60 years to Ronald Anderson (Age 84), who still resides in Southern Pines, NC. Born Sept 4,1929 to the late Frank and Ana Grace Jamison in Mowrystown, Ohio. Joyce graduated from Farfield High School in Leesburg, Ohio in 1947. She then attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She was married to Ronald Anderson on September 4,1949. In 1960 Joyce and her family moved to Wheaton, MD where they resided for more than 20 years. She was a mother of three, a homemaker, worked for the Montgomery County Public School Systems, and then worked for the US Federal Government before retiring. She was an active member of the Glenmont United Methodist Church in Silver Spring, MD. Joyce and her husband retired to Southern Pines, NC in 1980, enjoying travelling, golf and tennis. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and watching her 4 grandchildren grow. She and her husband Ron were members of the United Methodist Church of Southern Pines, NC. Surviving Joyce is her brother Ben and wife Wanda Jamison of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; daughter Deborah and husband Bill Stonstifer of Cummings, GA; daughter Heidi and husband Daniel Rones of Flowery Branch, GA; son Ron and wife Patty Anderson, and her four grandchildren, Brad, Rachel, Steve, and Greg of Ijamsville, MD. Her family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Penick Village, Powell Funeral Home, and Pine Lawn Cemetery for the loving care of their mother. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday July 17, 2010 at the United Methodist Church of Southern Pines, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
Foundation in her memory.
