Eugene Swartz Obituary


 
EUGENE SWARTZ (Age 77)  "Gene"  
Of College Park, Maryland, died of a stroke on May 21, 2011 at Washington Adventist Hospital. Gene was born in Kenosha, WI on October 28, 1933 to Sylvia (Cappelletti) and James Edwin Swartz. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, trained in tracked vehicle maintenance, and served in the Korean war from 1951 to 1953. He received a Purple Heart for his efforts on the battlefield. He was the past treasurer of USMC East Coast Tankers Association.  In 1955 he married Margaret "Peggy" Last, also of Kenosha. In 1963 they moved to Woodbridge, VA. Gene worked for Home Juice selling juice door-to-door. In 1977 his eldest son, Brock, and he started Swartz and Sons Distributors, Inc. (Distributors of Everfresh Juice), where he was president until his retirement in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Peggy of College Park; his son Brock (Terry), Brent (Cathy), Benjamin, Brenan and Bart; five grandchildren, Brian, Emily, Michelle, Branson, and James; and three great grandchildren, Brady, Ava, and Olivia.  A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28 at St. Mark the Evangelist in Hyattsville, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
