Nancy Hambleton Chance, the beloved wife of Merritt O. Chance and mother of Peter Chance, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2011, at her home in Madison, WI. Nancy was born on March 28, 1925, in Washington, DC, the third daughter of James and Mabel Hambleton. She grew up in Somerset, MD, and resided for over 60 years in Brookeville (Unity), MD, before moving to Madison, where her son, her daughter-in-law, Mary, and her granddaughters, Piper and Samara, live. She and Merritt (MO) knew each other for over 70 years and were married for almost 66. Nancy was an avid gardener and enjoyed doing lots of crafts, including spinning and weaving the wool of her prize Romney sheep. Also surviving Nancy are her sister, Edwina Earp, of Westminster, MD, her brother-in-law, Glen Miller, of Duck, NC, and a number of nieces, nephews and their families. Services private.
