Was in the MBA program with Britt at W&M and just learned of his passing from a notice in the alumni magazine. Although I lost touch with Britt after graduation, we'd reconnected early last year on LinkedIn. Britt was in my study group and he was such a sweet guy. Even though he was quiet - he had a great sense of humor and I remember a lovely evening spent when he and his wife invited our group over to dinner. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and especially his children.

Britt was one of the first friends I made at Washington and Lee. Although he was senior and I was a lowly, timid freshman, he took me under his wing, invited me to come along on fishing trips around Lexington, or to come hang out with Fred, Tom, Greg, Pete, and the rest of the crowd at Red House. To this day they remain some of the funniest people I have ever known. It was because of Britt that I joined Lambda Chi, and shortly after that I met Catherine, and it was obvious even then how happy and perfect they were together. I would never have come to know all of the wonderful people I met at LXA, were it not for Britt. And I will never forget the time when, for some reason, I didn't feel like going on one of the random, inconsequential road trips that the rest of our friends were organizing, Britt took me aside and said, "You really should go. This is the stuff you'll remember." And, of course, he was right. The world has lost a good man, but it is a better place for his kindness, warmth, and sense of humor. Our thoughts are with you and your family, Catherine.

I was so saddened to hear of this today from my aunt whose son (Matthew) has classes with Margaret. In the time I spent with your family I could clearly see that he loved his family dearly and all of his children knew they were special.
I used Sarah as my model for my senior show pictures and quilt and felt honored to be allowed to do so. I really appreciated the time everyone took to come and see my show and the praise you all gave me. I remember Dad being there and how complimentary he was to me about all the pieces, but Sarah especially.
If in the near or distant future you find that you need anything and I can be of help please call me - any time.
Prayers and Love for All,
Cathy

Britt was one of the most dedicated people I have had the pleasure of meeting. He often spoke of his kids and how he enjoyed spending time with them. His flash drives were always full of pictures of them. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Catherine and Kids,
Britt worked closely with me and my staff in the Office of Information Technology at the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). He was a remarkable talent who brought a great deal of technical knowledge and valuable experience to the workplace. Everyone that worked with Britt has enormous respect for him. Your loss is our loss too. We will miss him very much.

Catherine, Please accept our condolences. Britt was a truly wonderful man and obviously a loving spouse and father. This is such a difficult time, however, in the words of Gretchen and Allison ' mom, Mrs. Courtney is a really strong woman and a great mother! she will be fine in time". You are in our prayers.

Dear Catherine-
I am without words...a very very unusual situation for me, as you know. So, I am relying on some that brothers from Lambda Chi have all been sharing. We all agree and cherish our wonderful memories of Britt, and of the two of you as a fun-loving couple: his friendly disposition, his willingness to include and support others, his ready and welcoming smile, his great sense of humor, his dedication to helping each of us succeed, whenever we needed it. Among the many memories, Pink Floyd marathons, socials and dinners at 225 E Nelson... I laughed aloud upon being reminded of the exciting Easter egg hunt that Britt undertook with such great enthusiasm...Britt and Fred always made an entertaining comedy team...and you and Britt --such a great couple, and even more fun. I'm sure I've missed many of his better and better years with you growing your family and life together. I was so looking forward to catching up with you both soon. He obviously leaves behind a fantastic legacy of love and family. I am confident you will find the strength and courage to move forward, and I trust you know that you can call on any of his many friends from the house if there is anything at all we can do to be of assistance. I'm sorry I will be unable to attend the services from this distance...but I do hope to see you soon.
With Deepest Sympathy--

Catherine, My heart goes out to you and your wonderful family. I saw Britt a week or so ago at the store and he was talking about the boys and the "joys" of being the only male in a house full of women. He was so happy! I know he loved all of you very much. I hope you and your family can one day find peace again. Fondly, Denise
