BRICE MANELL P. BRICE Manell Patricia Price, 88, of Arlington, VA, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS, following an extended illness. A long time resident of Arlington, Ms. Brice moved to Tupelo earlier this year to be near her family, especially her sister Rosaline Bryson. Ms. Brice was born June 14, 1924 in Wheeling, West Virginia, where she attended St. Alphonsus grade school and St. Joseph's Academy. She earned a B.A. in journalism, English, and education from Mt. St. Joseph College in Cincinnati, Ohio. She taught school in Ohio and served for thirty years as a public information officer for the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. She was named an "Honorary Marine" at the conclusion of her distinguished career. She also was a volunteer leader for many years at Self Help for the Hard of Hearing, and a long time member of St. Thomas More Cathedral Parish in Arlington. Her extraordinary generosity, compassion and love will be remembered by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ms. Brice is survived by her sister: Rosaline Bryson of Tupelo and her brother: Fr. Donald Brice of Washington, D. C. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Marie Brice of Wheeling, West Virginia; three brothers who died in early childhood, Sa'eed, Bishara, and John; sisters Helen Johnson of Annandale, VA, Margaret "Dee" Kennedy of Wheeling, West Virginia and Dolores (Sr. Thomas Marie Brice, O.S.B) of Duluth, MN; and brother Edward J. Brice of Arlington, VA. Ms. Brice's surviving relatives in North Mississippi include nieces, Cathy (Sid) Pipkin and Judy (James Riley) Hunter of Tupelo, Pat Bryson of Banner, and Danny Bryson of Corinth. She also is survived by niece, Carol (Sam) Allen of Knoxville, TN; and nephews, Frank Bryson (Diana) of Jackson, TN, Ed Bryson (Pauline) of Memphis, TN and Jeff Bryson (Carol) of Cary, NC. Other surviving relatives include, nieces DeeAnn (Phil) Gibbs of Upland, CA and Joan (George) Olveda of Folsom, CA; nephews, Tom (Linda) Kennedy of San Diego, CA, Ed (Paula) Kennedy of Palm Dale, CA, Pat Kennedy of Arlington, VA and Don Paul Kennedy of San Diego, CA. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo, followed by the Funeral Mass of the Resurrection at 2 p.m. Pallbearers are her nephews and great nephews. A graveside burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Brice Family Plot at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, West Virginia. Holland Funeral Directors is entrusted with arrangements.
