Dr. Rasmussen, Jim was a treasured colleague among a small cirle of VA compliance officers who, of course prior to meeting you- scorned marriage and loved minor league baseball. Among other things, Jim taught me what being a pilot truly meant. He carried us on his wings until finding a resting place worthy of his view and imparted to us, friendship, wisdom and insight for us to carry forward in fond memory of him.

Karen-
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I count as one of the highlights of working at VA my time with Jim. The hard work and the discussions about flying, antiquities, and the law made the experience very special. I will miss his friendship and wise counsel.

Karen,
I am stunned! My heart goes out to you.
Such a great friend, brilliant, charismatic. I once imagined we'd do great things together--but he did them on his own. I shall always be grateful for the time I did know him.

I knew Jim a short time, having met him only about 6 months ago, but I count myself lucky to have known him. He was friendly, open, and welcoming. Particularly compelling was his ability to accomplish goals and build strong relationships simultaneously, a rare gift. It was a pleasure to work with him. I will miss him and send condolences to those he leaves behind.
