JOHN WILLIS HAMILTON
Commander John Willis Hamilton, US Navy (Ret.) died on September 17, 2012 of respiratory failure after a long fight with heart disease at his home in Springfield, Virginia. A service will be held at the United States Naval Academy Chapel, Annapolis, Maryland, on October 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at the USNA Officer's Club. He will be interred in the Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.
CDR Hamilton was born on July 31, 1928 in Warren, PA, where he remained until he graduated from Warren High School in 1946. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1951 and flight training in 1953, when he earned his wings. During his 22-year career in the U.S. Navy, he was assigned to several ships and flight squadrons. CDR Hamilton is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Suzanne Ward Berry; their daughter retired Commander Stephanie Castor, her husband retired CWO4 David Castor and children Todd, Samantha, Jennifer and Elizabeth; their son Gray, his wife Michelle and daughter Ava; their daughter Wynne Davis and children Jonathan, Cara and Ashley; and his sister Antoinette Adams.
