SCHULMAN CASEY ANNE SCHULMAN 1990 ~ 2012 On Saturday, December 1, 2012, Casey Schulman passed away. She was the beloved sister of Allison and the daughter of David and Margot. She will always be loved and remembered by her many aunts, uncles and wonderful cousins. She was a loyal, compassionate, fun-loving friend to so many at the University of Virginia, JEB Stuart High School and Sleepy Hollow Bath & Racquet Club. Casey was an active and enthusiastic student at JEB Stuart High School in Falls Church where she received an IB diploma. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Young Democrats, Civitans, captain of the varsity cheerleading squad and a member of the varsity swim team. Casey was in her fourth year at UVA, majoring in International Studies and was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. At UVA Casey was very involved in campus life, worked at The Backyard café and spent many hours tutoring immigrant workers at the Charlottesville hospital. At the time of her death, Casey was participating in the Semester at Sea program that enabled her to expand on her studies by traveling through Europe, Africa and South America. Tragically, her life was lost in a boating accident while on a snorkeling excursion last Saturday in Roseau, Dominica, the final stop before returning home. Friends have repeatedly described Casey as one who, "didn't just feel sympathetic, but always worked to change things". Casey was a shining, warm light to all of those who came within her orbit. Her smile and laugh, inner and outer beauty, acceptance of others, and willingness to help in ways that mattered, all made her so special. She will be missed and remembered and treasured. Friends and family will be welcomed at a celebration of Casey's beautiful life at the Kennedy Center Roof Terrace Restaurant at 11 a.m. on December 8. To support Casey's hopes and dreams, contributions may be made in her name to: J. E. B. Stuart Educational Foundation, P.O.
