GRAY JANE QUINN GRAY (Age 77) Died of cancer February 1, 2013, at Ingleside at King Farm in Rockville, where she lived with her husband Robert L. Gray Jr. She chose to live her last days to the fullest, avoiding the chemotherapy that would have darkened her final months. On January 3, she delighted in a chamber trio concert honoring her birthday and arranged by her daughter, Ann Quinn, and attended by over 150 friends. Born Jane Ann Soper on January 6, 1936 in the farming community of Bardolph, Illinois, where her father was a teacher. She moved with her family to St. Petersburg, Florida as a child, attending high school there. After graduating from Florida State University in 1957 with a degree in Sociology, she taught school in Pensacola, Florida, Florida. She married James Quinn, a student naval aviator on August 7, 1958 and began years as a Navy wife, continuing to teach in Fullerton, California in 1959 through 1962. In 1975, electing to follow a life of spiritual service, she enrolled in InterMet Interdenominational Seminary in Washington, DC, and simultaneously served as pastor of the Westmoreland Church in McLean for two years. She transferred to Wesley Seminary in Washington and graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree in 1979. Ordained as a Presbyterian minister, she made pastoral counseling her life's work, her success attested by the many people whose lives she helped and who became her friends. She married Robert Gray on June 7, 2003. They enjoyed almost ten happy years together, moving to Ingleside at King Farm in July of 2010, where they made many friends and truly loved the community.
