MARGARET FREDERICKSEN "Peggy"  
Peggy Fredericksen, 83, of Springfield, VA, died on January 31, 2013 from complications related to an infection.  Peggy earned her Bachelors degree from UCSB in elementary education and taught for several years and then chose to stay home to raise her children.  She was active in Alpha Phi alumni and earned the group's Michaelanean award in 1986. She was a member of the Nine-Holers at the Springfield Golf and Country Club and volunteered for many years at the Fairfax Hospital Thrift Shop. She was also a member of the Now Roger Investment Club for over 40 years.  She was an avid reader and puzzle solver and passionate about the arts. She loved to sing and especially appreciated the broadway show tunes of the 60's era.  Peggy loved to travel and in recent years enjoyed cruising to far destinations to include the Caribbean, Hawaii, Tahiti and the Western Pacific, Eastern Europe, and South America. She also enjoyed numerous golf vacations with her husband, son and daughter-in-law and they spent many happy times at The Cloisters at Sea Island, Georgia and at their second home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  She loved nature and enjoyed her backyard plants and birds and hiking along the beach and mountains.  Peggy is survived by her husband, Donald of 61 years of marriage and her son and daughter in-law Michael and Marci Fredericksen of San Diego, California. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly and Brianna Ellis of Fairfax, VA. Peggy will be missed by all.  A memorial service will be held March 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 8336 Carrleigh Parkway, Springfield, Virginia. A Celebration of Life reception will be held immediately following at the Springfield Golf and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute, in memory of Margaret Fredericksen.
