MARGARET ANNE GORALSKI
Passed away peacefully on January 26, 2013 at the age of 84 after a life full of adventure and community service. Born Margaret Anne Walton of parents William Port Walton and Dorothy Ringgenberg Walton on February 1, 1928 in Wilton Junction, Iowa, she grew up in Silvis, Illinois.
She graduated at age 16 from United Township High School in 1944 and from the University of Illinois
at Champaign-Urbana in 1948, where she met her husband, future NBC News correspondent Robert S. Goralski, who shared her love of writing, reading, and travel. During the 1950's they lived in Tokyo, Japan, Karachi, Pakistan, and New Delhi, India while Robert worked for Radio Free Asia.
In 1958 they moved to Falls Church, Virginia and began raising a family, while she also volunteered in local political campaigns. In 1968 they moved to McLean, Virginia where she served as a president of The Langley School and as PTA President and Treasurer for several years at Langley High School. Later, she devoted many years to volunteer work at the Claude Moore Colonial Farm in Langley, Virginia. She loved playing Scrabble, and maintained an average score of 326 into her 80's.
Her husband passed away in 1988. She will be buried with him and their infant son at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be sent to the Claude Moore Farm in Langley, Virginia. She is survived by three children, Douglas, Dorothy, and Kate, and four grandchildren.
