ROBERT D. LEVINE   
Robert Don Levine, a former press officer at the Treasury Department, died July 21, 2013 of pancreatic cancer. He was born in Berlin, Germany of American parents Isaac Don Levine and Mary Leavitt on November 15, 1924. He spent most of his professional life in public affairs work-24 years in the U.S. Information Agency before moving to Treasury in 1980. He also edited the quarterly USIA Alumni News from January 1989 to September 2004.Levine started in USIA in 1955 as a writer and then editor at the Voice of America. In 1960 he joined the USIA Foreign Service and was posted to Geneva, Paris (where he was deputy Public Affairs Officer (PAO) and later was PAO for the American delegation to the OECD), Saigon and Phnom Penh where he was also PAO.Before joining USIA he had been a free-lance writer, a staffer at People Today and Pageant magazines, a reporter in the Paris bureau of International News Service and an editor of an English-language daily in Mexico City.Levine had a B.A. in Latin American Studies from Mexico City College (now the University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico). He was in the first graduating class in 1941 of the Bronx High School of Science in New York. During World War II he was a radar technician in the Marine Corps.He is survived by his wife, the former Nan Pullan of Pleasantville, NJ and three sons, David, Joshua, and Justin.His father, the late Isaac Don Levine, was a prominent writer on Soviet and Communist affairs.There will be a memorial service held in his honor at Blessed Sacrament school auditorium (5841 Chevy Chase Parkway NW - near Chevy Chase Circle) on Saturday, September 7 at 1 p.m. The entrance to the auditorium is from the parking lot behind the building. Any friends or former colleagues are welcome to attend.

Mr. Levine,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country-first when you served in the USMC during WW II and later when Uou served with the Information Service. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
