KATHLEEN BURNS DANBURY  

Of Annandale, Virginia, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, September 21, 2013 after a brave battle against Amyloidosis and Nephrotic Syndrome. She was an extraordinary woman who loved people, travel and watching mysteries with her husband. She had a varied and interesting career, which included a position as a copywriter for a radio station, training personnel in Chicago and a role as special events coordinator at the Woodward and Lothrop department store. Her true calling was always education, which extended into a more than 30 year career teaching. A graduate of University of Wisconsin, she earned a Masters in Education from Marymount University. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Danbury; children Amy DeCarlo (Mark), Chrissy Danbury (Dave Kief), Tommy Danbury and stepdaughter, Betsy Danbury; grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia and Tasha DeCarlo; brothers, Jack Burns (Barbara) and Dan (Joanne); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Burns and is survived by her sister-in-law, Sharon Burns. Family and friends may visit at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA on Friday, September 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Saturday, September 28 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8800 Braddock Road, Annandale, VA. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities USA, P.O. Box 17066, Baltimore, MD 21297.
