WINSLOW R. REMLEY
Winslow R. Remley passed away the morning of Tuesday October 8, 2013 after a struggle with failing health. He joins his son Winslow R. Remley Jr. who passed away in 1996.
Winslow was born in Georgia, spending his young life in Savannah. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Army
during the Korean War. Six months after his tour of Duty he met his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Ann, in Savannah. Winslow then entered the University of Georgia
, studying physics and mathematics. He continued his education by competing for and winning the Woodrow Wilson Foundation Scholarship, for Duke University. Winslow was employed with IBM, where he developed patents in acoustics and engineering. While at IBM he also achieved the distinction of being recognized many time as a member of the Golden Circle until early retirement. He then started his entrepreneurship with successful Government Contracting Businesses. He finally achieved his dreams, by boating around the World.
Winslow is survived by his two children, Mark Remley and Lori Mody, 11 grandchildren, along with one brother Norman Ray Remley and one sister Edith Gattman, and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends the morning of Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Rd. Fairfax, VA 22032. A service will then be held at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be 12 Noon at Fairfax Memorial Park.
