Died at his home in Washington DC on November 26, 2013 from complications of Parkinson's disease. A Wisconsin native, he served during World War II
, the Korean conflict
, in Viet Nam and was a Legion of Merit recipient. In addition to his military career, he had a long history of volunteer service, was generous to friends and strangers, and brought joy to others with his ready smile. He tried to live every day to the fullest, and on his own terms. He leaves to celebrate his amazing life his devoted wife of 67 years, Lenora Jacobson; daughter Mae (Blake) Novak; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Shirley (John) Boudry and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sons Major John Jacobson (US Army Ret.) and Air Force Sgt Donald William Jacobson II; brothers Frank and Charles, and sister Val Stieber.
