NORMAN SEAY JACKSON (Age 83)
Died unexpectedly Monday, January 13, 2014 in Fairfax, VA, with his two children by his side. Born in Atlanta, GA, January 9, 1931 and lived in Washington, D.C. and Arlington, VA, eventually settling in Fairfax, VA in 1964 with his family. Devoted husband to Florence D'Alessandro Jackson of Fairfax, VA, for 57 years. Brother to Dorothy Jackson Kerr, of Oakton, VA; Father to Andrea Jackson Thompson of Fairfax, VA, and David Jackson (Gail) of McLean, VA; Papa to Jackson Thompson of Seattle, WA, and Katelyn Thompson Longgrear (Luke) of Centreville, VA, and Marina and Matthew Jackson of McLean, VA; Great Papa to Isabella Longgrear.
Norman retired in 1985 from the Central Intelligence Agency as a member of the Senior Intelligence Service after a 34-year distinguished career. He served in many foreign duty and headquarters assignments and was Senior Technical Advisor to several Deputy Directors of Operations at CIA. Prior to CIA, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after four years of service.
Norman and Florence were active square dancers and they helped to form the Starweavers dance group within Washington Area Square Dancers Cooperative Association (WASCA). He became active and served in various roles on the WASCA Board of Directors, including President, Past President Ex-Officio, and Historian.
Norman worked for over 20 years as a Marriage Celebrant for Fairfax County and was a devoted volunteer to the Historic Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center.
