RALPH SMITH Obituary


RALPH STUART SMITH (Age 92)  
On March 7, 2014, in Kensington, MD. Born in Yonkers, New York, attended Phillips Academy Andover and Yale University. Served in the US Navy during WWII, then had a long career in the US Government. Ralph worked as a Foreign Service Officer in Greece, Belgium, France and the Congo. He then served in the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, notably on the negotiating team for the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Beloved husband of Lilian Stuart Smith, father to David Stuart and Lesley Smith, and grandfather to Shannon Stuart Glikin. Ralph was a long-time resident of Bethesda, MD, and was active in DACOR (Diplomatic and Consular Officers, Retired). A memorial service will be held in about a month. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ralph's name to the DACOR Bacon House Foundation (dacorbacon.org/foundation).
