FLYNN JAMES JOSEPH FLYNN (Age 79) Of Woodbridge, VA, died Friday, December 27, 2013. He was born to the late Joseph Flynn and Agnes Drum Flynn on February 10, 1934, in New York City. Jim graduated from Xavier High School in New York City in 1951 and from Saint Peter's College in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1955 with a BA in Mathematics. He married the late Helen Zeloznicki in 1964, and they lived together in Tampa, FL, and Honolulu, HI, before settling in Virginia in 1969. Jim proudly served as an Army Officer for over 20 years until he retired from active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1977. He began his Army career serving in Korea and various locations in the Pacific, and saw duty in Viet Nam from 1968-1969. He was a member of the Society of the 1st Infantry Division and the Joint Communications Support Element Veterans Association. Jim became involved in real estate in 1977, earned his Broker's License in 1980, and worked with several real estate firms in Northern Virginia spanning a 35 year second career. Jim was active with the Prince William Association of Realtors, where he was a member of the Professional Standards and Arbitration Committee, Budget and Finance Committee, Professional Standards Committee, and Profile Sheet Committee. He served as Chairman of the Multiple Listing Service Committee, Property Management, and Ad Hoc Sanitary District committees during his service to the Association. He served on the Common Data Base Committee for 14 years. In 1990, Jim was among twenty-five Realtors inducted as charter members of the Prince William Association of Realtors. He became a Lifetime PWAR Member in 2008. Jim enjoyed teaching Real Estate courses at Northern Virginia Community College for many years. Jim also served as President of the Featherstone Civic Association and was a strong supporter of the Potomac Mills Walking Club. Dedicated to his family, Jim?????™s passion was fishing on the Potomac with his son and grandchildren. Jim is survived by one son, Michael, of Manassas, VA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the . Friends of the family may call on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mountcastle -Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, VA. Chapel services will be held Friday, May 9, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. at the Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, VA, followed by burial with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
