To the family of COL John Baker...please accept my condolences on the passing of your loved one which I was made aware of by way of his obituary in the Hazard Herald. And, thank you to COL Baker for his devotion to his family, friends, country and life. What an amazing journey it must have been for him. May God bless his family and provide comfort during this difficult time. My mother (born Feb 1916) in Perry County is no doubt a distant relative of John's, having descended from the Baker line of Perry County through her mother, Jane Baker Whitaker, daughter of Henderson Baker, grandson of John Jackson Baker. I myself lived in New England for many years and I know why he chose the beautiful area of Maine as his home. Again, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. God bless!!!

I knew COL(R) Baker only through his obituary. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and family who must surely be mourning his loss. But the summary of his many accomplishments and the undoubted love of his wife and their children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, make me want to proclaim, "What an amazing life!"

Jean, Barney, and family:
Diane and I were saddened to hear of John's passing. He was a great man who lived a great life. We enjoyed working for John and Jean for more than 4 years. I can still picture John asking me who sang a certain song. And he was such a fan of "...swing and sway with Sammy Kaye...". He will be missed.
Our condolences go out to all of the family.
