ALAN EUGENE PRICE (Age 68)
Transitioned on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Beloved husband of Teresa, loving and dedicated father of Alexander, Alan Jr. and Amir. Friends will be received on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at Plymouth Congressional United Church of Christ, 5301 North Capitol Street, NE, Washington, DC. Service will be followed by Interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD.

Sometimes God puts people in your path to make you better and Alan was truly one of them. I thank God for the friendship and knowledge that he shared. The cheerful disposition he always showed as though he never had a care in the world. He will be missed. I have many fond memories of racing with Alan. He was and will always be a legend in the the Racewalking community. remember him driving up to a race in NJ the night before so he wouldn't be late for the race. We all where surprised to actually see Alan on-time for a race.

Within the Racewalking Community it's the athletes that we meet who become friends, mentors and help us archive our goals. Alan was the rock when I competed in Xenia Ohio with him in 1993. My goal was to be a Centurion, but after the second Marathon, I changed to the 100K not enough time to complete. It was Alan who encouraged me on. My tummy problems his then fiancée had the Peppermint for me, leg cramps, he yelled “Theresa watermelon for Isabel”. I finished the race the same time he completed his Centurion. Over the years we met at various races, always a friend and true gentleman.
It's with wonderful memories that we remember him. My Sympathies to Theresa and his family.

Alan, you were an inspiration from the first time I met you in a DC Roadrunners event in the early 70's. You were very encouraging to the little girl wanting to run in the men's races. Thru the years you were so very positive to everyone, walkers & runners alike. Then at a 50 mile on track when I started getting slow you got me thru it. I just tucked in behind you and let you drag me along. I remember many a race – we are all on the starting line – then we wait a few more seconds to see if you'll be showing up just in time to start. Sometimes you made it and sometimes you missed the start. I will miss you.

Dear Alan....You were the greatest...you walked and walked and walked, and seemingly could walk forever, leaving mere mortals such as myself further behind with each of your inspired strides....and we all know you did wonderful things in this life beyond your walking achievements...You were a truly great guy and marvelous athlete who showed the way...and again and again. We've missed you at the races in recent years and now we will miss you forever...You've truly won the game of life and we know you'll keep on winning in your heavenly destination. Dear Teresa ,
We are so sorry to hear of Alan's loss.Our thoughts of comfort and concern go out to you and your family.Alan was a remarkable individual .He clearly was by far the best long distance walker ever. I can still see him sleep walking and then waking up and accelerating by me, leaving me in the cinders! But,even more than that he was a warm,wonderfull spirit.He touched many people including ourselves.He will be remembered.

Whenever I think about ultra distance Race Walking I see Alan's smiling face. The first time I ever saw Alan walk was in the Bethesda Chase 20km. Met him on the starting line and didn't see him again until I reached the finish line. RIP my friend. Prayers for all who loved Alan.

Family my sincere condolences, it breaks my heart to say Farewell to such a dear person, so many porch to porch conversations growing up and lets not forget eat healthy walk or run to stay in shape and lets not forget nature's sunshine products. We ran into each other in the store about a year ago, we talked so long we ended up outside on the benches just having a great conversation and neigther of us purchased anything because we talked and laughed to long. Alan you were so much a part of my life; a part that continuous to live with me. I am sorry I never expressed this to you; you had a major impact on me. I think I can speak for Marjorie when I say we will miss knowing you are out there walking all those miles.

Teresa, you know how much we cared... even at a distance. I was so honored when Alan asked me to be his best man at your wedding. We have moved to Naples, FL and will be unable to be at Alan's service; it saddens us a great deal not to share in this last public experience of Alan's.
