ZUCKERMAN STANLEY A. ZUCKERMAN (Age 81) On June 7, 2015, Stanley A. Zuckerman of McLean, VA passed away peacefully at the age of 81 with his family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Adriana N. Bianchi; his children Jennifer (Steve), David (Anna), Julie, Chris (Cyndi) and Matthew. He was a loving grandfather to Joshua, Benjamin, Emma, Maya, Sam, Connor, Kyle, Cecil and Naomi; loving uncle to Nancy, Diane, Jack, Danny, Wendy, Angel and Jesica. Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 7, 1933. He earned a B.A. and M.A. from University of Wisconsin, Madison. He completed post-graduate studies at Johns Hopkins University. Stanley began his career as a journalist for The Columbus Enquire in Columbus, Georgia and for The Milwaukee Journal. Prior to entering the Foreign Service, he became the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Wisconsin. He dedicated 28 years in the U.S. Foreign Service eventually earning the distinguished ranking as Career Minister. He served in the Belgium Congo, Belgium, Korea, Mexico, Canada and Brazil. He received both the Presidential Meritorious Service Award and the Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy. After his distinguished Foreign Service Career, he started Lives and Legacies Films, which produced a series of First Person Singular PBS specials. These films documented the lives of Architect I. M. Pei, Historian John Hope Franklin, author and human rights activist Elie Wiesel, and CBS Broadcaster, Charles Kuralt. He will be most remembered by his family and friends as a loving and generous man who dedicated everything he did towards the happiness and well being of others. His humor, generosity, caring, intellect, creativity and love could best be described as the Zuckerman presence. A presence that will live in the lives of all the people who were fortunate enough to encounter him. A memorial Service will be held at Temple Rodef Shalom, 2100 Westmoreland St., Falls Church, VA 22043, on Sunday, June 14 at 3 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on a later date.
