It is hard to believe that it is a decade since Ivan's passing. He had a great influence on me at a spiritually crucial point in my life. RIP, friend.

My cousin Ivan and I were born about the same time in Colorado and knew each other since we small boys. We kept in touch sporadically over the years as students, as young adults in Wash DC in the 60's and subsequently as we pursued our respective careers, raising our children and enjoying our grandchildren. I have fond memories of the gracious hospitality we enjoyed on our occasional visits to Ivan and Lois' home. I particularly admired Ivan's intellect and his commitment to finding commonality of the Catholic and Mennonite faith practices. He made an invaluable contribution to our family by compiling our family history from the late 1700's forward. He was an exceptional person and will be sorely missed in innumerable ways by many people he touched during his life.

I only knew Ivan for last six or seven years of his life, but he truly had an impact on me. He was one of the best men I ever met, a skilled debater who was always eager to learn. I'll miss him greatly.

Ivan will be remembered by me for his kindness and concern for others and how passionate he was about his faith and Mennonite/Catholic interfaith dialog.
My best wishes to Lois, Eda and Conrad and of course the grandchildren who adored him.

I haven't seen Ivan in over 20 years, but as a young child he made a lasting impression on me-I'll always remember him as one of the kindest and most sincere humans I've ever met. Every time we'd go visit, I'd learn something new and exciting from Ivan. One time he showed me Microsoft WINDOWS for the first time! I owe so much to the Kauffmans for so many genuine moments and acts of kindness that they shared with me over the years. My heart is heavy knowing the loss you are all feeling. Love and Prayers.
