Harry was a wonderful wonderful person. I loved how he was respectful of nature and how he loved plants and flowers. I also love how he loved old homes and antiques and things like that. He was old school and I learned so much from him and will always miss him. Thomas Joseph Pettin

Harry was one of the most kindest persons I have ever known. He was always avaiable for conversation on gardening and a host of other topics. He enjoyed his garden and was greatly saddened by the sudden death of Morgan, his previous partner, lamenting that he had saved funds over the years that Morgan woud have a good life after he was gone. Harry was most fortunate to meet Tom and joined together in marriage. A very happy event for Harry and Tom.

Tom, sorry for your loss

Please accept my sincere sympathies. May God's holy spirit or active force, equip you with the " power beyond what is normal " to go from one day to the next. ( 2 Corinthians 4 : 7 ) Remember : God can help his faithful servants to endure any and every problem they may face.

Harry was one of the most gentle of men I have known who had a passion for library science, gardening, and numerous friends. He was orginator of AlpinL, working tirelessly to keep it going as a fine chat room for sharing information on apline plants and gardening. He was my former neighbor on Brandon Lane in Beltsville who would often invite us over to join him and Morgan Nickles for afternoon ice cream or just for a break from working in the garden. He got me into rock gardening which I never really was successful with. Nevertheless, he was patient and extremely kind to me over the years. He was most fortunate to find Tom after Morgan died. I will miss him greatly and will always remember his simle and gentle manner.
