Dr. YOLANDA K. VAUGHAN-RICHARDSON
Fondly known by friends and family as "Kaye," passed away on March 26, 2016 in Washington, DC. Born in Washington, DC, on July 29, 1957, to Emma Lee Murphy and Elisha Lemuel Kornegay, Yolanda attended McKinley Tech in Washington, D.C. After graduating high school Yolanda decided to further her education in her parent''s home state of North Carolina. She attended The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. From there, Yolanda decided to continue her education at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned her degree of Doctor of Medicine. During her tenure at Chapel Hill, Dr. Vaughan was chosen to be a member of the Gamma Chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Yolanda is lovingly remembered by her husband Russell Richardson; son George Brian Vaughan, Esquire; siblings Monalisa Reno, Clifford Earl Hargett Sr., Demitri C. Kornegay, Darryll Lane Kornegay Sr.; mother-in-law Dorothy Davis; father-in-law Russell "Pete" Richardson; sisters-in-law Angela Kornegay, Elaine Neely, Tiffany Neely, Roberta Neely; brothers-in-law Tony Decarris Richardson Sr., Roosevelt Richardson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and loving friends. Family will receive Guest on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 700 I St. N.E. Washington, DC from 10 a.m. until Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Interment Private. Dr Vaughn I was your patient starting at the age of 18 and continued until you went home to rest with the angels. There is no other GYN like you from your personal bedside manner to your fancy waiting room. There is no other like you, I'm adjusting to a new doctor, but it will never be the same. Although its been almost a year I miss this wonderful woman. She was my Doctor for over 20 years but I knew she was someone who I could honestly talk to. I miss her smile, infectious laugh and caring character. Just reading the comments from others who were blessed as I was to know her shows that she was clearly a very special person.

wow, it has been almost a year and I am just finding this out. Went to schedule my yearly and heard the news. She delivered all 3 of my babies, i was a young mom and the compassion she showed and all she taught me I will never forget. I still have the gifts she made for my children when they were all born. I was shocked to find out about Dr. Vaughan passing. She was such a wonderful, kind, sweet and outstanding Doctor and friend. Her beautiful smile and her wonderful laughter would always be such a joy to see and hear when I seen her at my office visits. From walking in her office to see how beautifully it was decorated with all her dolls and antiques and her office always smelled so nice. She always addressed all my health concerns and always asked how my family was doing. She delivered my first grandson who is now 17. What a joy. Thank you!

So sad to hear of Dr. Vaughn's passing. She was the most attentive, loving, and caring physician I have ever experienced. She would always go the extra mile and take the time to explain any and everything to me...even things outside of our normal doctor's visit. I was able to trust that what she told me was not only good and reliable physician advice, but advice that a caring mother figure would give. I will miss her so much.

Words cannot express what Dr. Vaughn meant to my family over the past 22 years, not only as my Dr., but as a confidant to me and mentor to my children, whom she delivered. She was not just THE most compassionate and caring physician, she was just as much an extraordinary individual. I was in awe of her energy and drive and what a privilege it was to witness it over the years. It was my pleasure to offer any graphic assistance to her in her entrepreneurial endeavors. It was my honor to design and paint her cherished "Sweet Magnolias" store's sign, which I specifically rendered to mirror her most noteworthy sense of design, style and grace. My family adored Dr. Vaughan. She as a person, along with her bright, warm smile and vibrant laugh will always hold a special place in our hearts. I was sad to hear the passing of Dr. Vaughan today. I was calling to see how she was doing and i got the sad news. She was a very sweet & kind person. Dr. Vaughan has been my doctor since 2009. I was hoping she beat this thing. One of my fond memories of Dr. Vaughan was when she told me that I was pregnant with my second child. She was just tickled about giving me that news. I am saddened to hear of Dr.Vaughan's passing. She was my MD for year's, she was a caring woman of God. She gave you her undivided attention when you saw her. She never forgot to ask about you and your family during the visit. When I saw her in 12-2015 she talked about her son and his accomplishments and future, she was very proud of him (her face lit up talking about him). I am truly saddened. Dr. Yolanda Vaughan was the most beautiful woman ever. I have been a patient for about 14 years. Dr. Vaughan delivered my first baby over 12 years ago. Dr. Vaughn saved my life, it was through her that i was discovered to have a masive tumor. She cried with me, held my hand and told me that i was stronger than i knew. I will for ever be thankful. Heavens became brighter by her arrival. She will be missed!

I loved reading all of the inspirational messages and looking at the beautiful pictures and plaques she had on the walls in her office, not to mention the amazing collection of dolls. Dr. Vaughan delivered all 3 of my children. During complications with my first born she stood by my babies side for hours to ensure she was healthy and safe. No one asked her to, she just did it because that is the type of person she was. Loving, caring, thoughtful. She was an amazing woman and I am so blessed to have known her. She will be missed.
