My husband Bill McGinty and I were very shocked by the news of David's death. Bill had spoken with him on the phone, as he did regularly, less than two weeks before. After first meeting David upstate NY at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival in Cooperstown 20 years ago, we had become opera pals and shared several experiences during his frequent visits to NY to go the Met. When he could no longer make these regular trips, we sent large packages of reviews/programs which he seemed to really appreciate. We will miss David's encyclopedic historic knowledge and his valued companionship.

David was such a dear friend to Dan Kalk. They are both missed.
