William Anawalt Obituary

WILLIAM LEE ANAWALT "Bill"

William "Bill" Anawalt, 78, Chief Master Sergeant, United States Air Force, (Ret.), died Sunday, May 21, 2006 at his home. Interment with Full Military Honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 9 a.m.

Mr. Anawalt was born in Kansas City, MO to the late Elmer and Sarah Anawalt. He was an Industrial Engineer in the USAF and served on active duty for 28 years. Enlisting in the Army-Air Corps in 1946, he served in multiple overseas assignments including Berlin Airlift Support in France, Germany and England and Strategic Air Command operations in Spain. He was assigned to the Pentagon on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was a Certified Flight Instructor and member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association; the American Society of Industrial Engineers; and the Aiken Regional Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Marion Plumb Anawalt, formerly of England; a daughter, Marion, Macon, GA; two sons, Donald, Colonel, USAF, (Ret.), Alexandria, VA and William, CDR, USN, (Ret.), San Diego, CA; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Baxter, Kansas City, MO; a brother, Elmer Anawalt, Independence, MO.
