Jeffrey Stibick

Jeffrey N. L. Stibick, PhD  
Jeffrey passed away on January 26 at the age of 76. Survived by his loving wife of 45 years Doris, daughters Melanie and Jessica, son Justin; granddaughter Kayla, and also many other friends and relatives. He attended the University of Florida, Rollins College, and obtained his MS and Ph.D. from Catholic University. Shortly after graduation he worked for more than nine years for the Australian government in Papua New Guinea as a Senior Entomologist, where he created a new insect collection and identified many new species. For more than 30 years until his retirement in 2012 he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He worked on many projects in particular invasive and exotic pests. Over his career he published over 50 scientific papers and was one of the world's leading specialist in click beetles. Born deaf, during a time when there was little opportunity for the profoundly deaf, Jeff was able to mainstream in education and most aspects of life. He was able to communicate even more after receiving a cochlear implant at age 60, inspiring an article in the Washington Post. He also represented people with disabilities at his workplace earning much praise and recognition. All services private.www.gaschs.com
