On Wednesday, March 22, 2017, Ilya Suslov of Potomac, MD. Beloved husband of Nancy; loving father of Misha, Mark and Josi; cherished grandfather of Grisha; dear son of Peter and Yeva; and loving brother, Mikhail. Mr. Suslov was a greatly loved and widely respected member of the United States Jewish Russian Émigré Community. A prolific writer of humor and satire, Mr. Suslov published more than 300 of his stories and six books in the United States. Before immigrating to the United States in 1974, he was renown among the Moscow Intelligentsia for his column, "Club of Twelve Chairs", appearing in the Literary Gazette. As a brilliant editor, lyricist, actor and emcee, he was also recognized as a great mentor for emerging writers. Mr. Suslov was equally proud of the work that he did as a broadcaster for Voice of America and for the United States Information Agency, where he worked for more than 30 years.Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 26 at Judean Memorial Gardens, Olney, MD Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org).
