Powers, Lawrence Willis Lawrence Willis Powers, 83, of Bethesda died June 2, 2018 at Suburban Hospital of complications from the flu. Will was born February 23, 1935 in Loch Haven, Pennsylvania to Rebecca Francis (Snyder) and Clair Rudy Powers. He attended UM Baltimore and continued his education at American University School of Law, where he earned a BA and a Juris Doctor degree. In 1979 he leveraged his education and his wood craftsmanship skills to create one of the most highly regarded flooring companies, the L.W. Powers Custom Floor Center, Inc. in Kensington, which installed and refinished custom hardwood floors in many of the area's most prestigious homes. He supervised work in embassies, the Kennedy Center and the White House. He was a life member of Congressional Country Club and a former member of the Chester River Yacht and Country Club. He was always quick with a joke, and fun to be around. He is survived by his sons, Brook and Brandon Powers of Frederick MD and Atlanta Georgia, his brother, David Powers of Florida as well as several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte E. Powers in 2016.
