Thomas W. Knickerbocker
Thomas Wm. Knickerbocker, age 30, died peacefully on March 11, 2013 at his home in Wausau.
Devoted father, beloved son, and special friend, he was born on October 9, 1982 in Melrose, Minnesota to John and Deborah Knickerbocker. He spent much of his early years in Melrose. His family moved and spent time in Onalaska and Sparta, Wisconsin before finally moving to Shawano. He attended middle and high school there graduating in 2001. While attending Shawano Community High School, he met Nycole Creed. They moved to Wausau where Thomas graduated from Northcentral Technical College's Residential Building program. While in Wausau, Thomas took on the role of father for Nycole's son Draven Creed. After graduating, Thomas and his family moved to Madison where he worked in construction. While there, Thomas and Nycole were blessed with a daughter, Ayva Knickerbocker. The family moved back to Shawano, then finally back to Wausau. With the housing slump, Thomas found other work in food service at the Wausau Country Club where he started as a dishwasher, but quickly rose in the culinary ranks. During the winter season, Thomas found work at Granite Peak Ski Area where he could be close to one of his favorite winter pastimes, snowboarding. In his leisure time, he also enjoyed skateboarding, soccer, fishing, camping, music, and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
Thomas will be deeply missed by: his daughter, Ayva; his special friend, Nycole Creed and her son Draven; his parents; sisters, Andrea Knickerbocker of Green Bay, Carolyn (Nick) Neureuther of Milwaukee; and aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano with the Rev. Marty Black officiating. Visitation will be held Friday at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday from 4:00-7:00pm and at the church on Saturday from 12:30pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the establishment of a trust fund for Ayva.

As you all know Thomas was a big fan of Sundrop soda... One day at work, he brought a case of glass bottles to share with the crew... He offered me one, but I explained that I couldn't try it, because I'm diabetic.... About a week later, Thomas brought another round of Sundrop for the kitchen, he approached me with a big grin, and said, I found Diet Sundrop for you... Now every time I drink a Diet Sundrop I think of Thomas... Needless to say I've been drinking a lot of Sundrop recently.... Thomas had a big heart, he constantly thought of ways to make you smile... He will be missed...

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Losing a child is the most devastating loss a parent can experience. Lean on God, family and friends to help you as you learn to live with a new "normal". Our prayers are with your family.
